National Math and Science Initiative: College Readiness Program

In 2017-18 school year, 10 SUHSD high schools received a three year grant from the Department of Defense (DOD) for the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) College Readiness Program to dramatically increase student access to rigorous Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

SUHSD/NMSI high schools: Bonita Vista High School, Chula Vista High School, Eastlake High School, Hilltop High School, Mar Vista High School, Montgomery High School, Olympian High School, Otay Ranch High School, Southwest High School, and Sweetwater High School.

*The above mentioned schools qualified to participate based on their enrollment of military connected students.

The College Readiness Program is part of NMSI 365 – year-round and holistic support for school systems, teachers, students and communities.

AP STEM Classes supported by NMSI-CRP program: AP English Language, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C:Mechanics, AP Environmental Science.

This school year (2020-21), the National Math Science Initiative (NMSI) program supported by the Department of Defense (DoD) is back with a 4th year of Transition out of our NMSI College Readiness Program (CRP) 3-year grant that ended last school year (2019-20).
