  • SUHSD at Women’s Hackathon Event at CSU San Marcos

    CSUSM women hackathon logoOn April 30, 2016 CSU San Marcos hosted a Women’s Hackathon Event. Sweetwater Union High School students were there! CSUSM Women Hackathon

    • Aseret Flores & Sarah Valencia (Sweetwater High School)
    • Amanda Castro, Emili Meyer, Ivy Nguyen, & Precious Lara (Olympian High School)

    During the awards ceremony, Emily, Aseret, and Sarah (Team Pumas) earned an award for developing a game concept as part of a website to educate the public about the environment around jaguars. They won in the classification of originality and impact.

    Amanda, Ivy, and Precious , (Team Rawr)  earned an award based on their concept for a website that followed most closely the theme about educating the public about Jaguars.  They wrote everything in English and in Spanish.

  • Mustang Robotics Team 507B to VEX WORLDS 2016

    VEXWORLDSOn April 20-23, 2016, 2016 VEX Worlds took place at Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. A total of 1,017 teams from 31 different countries participated at the 2016 VEX World Championships. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, this was the world’s largest robotics event ever held.

    Mustang Robotics Team 507B from Otay Ranch High School represented SUHSD.

    After three days of intense competition, team 507B placed 23rd in their division placing them in the top 100 VEX high school teams in the world! They also won a tablet and a phone on a side video contest competition. GREAT JOB MUSTANG ROBOTICS!

    On May 3-4, 2016, Chula Vista Middle School’s Science Department hosted its annual SCIENCE FESTIVAL showcasing students innovation and creativity through Inventions. A journey into the world of science and engineering.
